Electric Tilt Train (Queensland Rail)

Queensland's tilting electric train, in the yellow-nose and stainless livery used since the 2015–17 refurbishment.

Sizes are the outer dimensions of the body (length × width × height, mm). Colours show the livery; prints are single-colour. Sized to fit a toy chassis.

Liveries and logos are based on photos on Wikimedia Commons.

Parts

Press a number to move to that part.

  1. One large pane in a black frame, on the single raked face (about 45 degrees) that runs from the nose to the roof.

  2. The light grey box above the windscreen, with a white and red pair of lamps at each side and two round lamps in the middle.

  3. The red lamps at the ends of the lamp housing.

  4. Round headlights low on the bulging front face, one on each side.

  5. The red square and the QueenslandRail lettering between the headlights.

  6. The bumper projecting at the foot of the front, with a shallow slot across its top. On the real train a skirt hangs below it; the model stops at the rim for the chassis.

  7. The D-shaped window with an upright rear edge and a front edge parallel to the windscreen, with a yellow band left between it and the windscreen.

  8. The yellow door and its window. It reads wide in the photographs, probably the wheelchair-accessible door.

  9. Since the 2015-17 refurbishment the car is yellow from the nose to the door behind the cab.

  10. The black window band along the stainless side.

  11. The three horizontal ribs below the windows.

  12. The grey roof of the stainless section. The pantographs are on the intermediate cars, not on this one.

  13. No side-on photograph of the current livery was found, so lengths were read off an oblique photograph with a perspective correction. They may be off by about 10 percent.

  14. The scale makes the real width exactly 40 mm (14.07 mm/m). The height is fitted to 38 mm from rim to roof, which puts the rim about 0.34 m below the foot of the cab door. The 18 m or so of the passenger section is squashed to 78 mm.
